First Girl Talk Meeting

The first girl talk meeting went well! Today I introduced the program to the girls and we played some get-to-know-you games. The girls were sent home with "About Me" packets (you can find the link in my last post). With 25+ middle school girls, I now plan to move on to recruiting high school mentors! Our next meeting will be 04/29/15. Have a good vacation everyone!

Welcome to Girl Talk's Medfield Chapter at Blake Middle School!

Welcome to my Girl Talk blog for the Medfield, MA chapter at Blake Middle School! Our first introductory meeting will be Wednesday, April 15th, 2015 in room 206 at the middle school from 2:15 pm until 3 pm. This is Girl Talk's Mission Statement: Today, young teenage girls are more driven and inspired than ever before. However, most girls lack the resources and moral guidance they need to fulfill their innermost dreams. Girl Talk’s desire is to recognize that the most effective way of reaching these teenage girls is not only through school administrators and teachers, but also through students reaching students. This will require a new level of responsibility from school administrators, teachers, parents and most importantly—students.
Girl Talk is a nonprofit organization that desires to inspire young teenagers to build self-esteem through positive biweekly programs, as well as encourage each girl to have a unique sense of individuality. Organized and led by inspirational high school girls who serve as mentors, the girls participate in various activities and conversations that promote self-worth. The bonds and lessons that are learned in Girl Talk meetings are something the girls will carry with them wherever they go in life, and because of this each girl will grow into a confident and independent young woman.
